This project in Naples’ Sun Terrace neighborhood was a substantial renovation and addition, thoughtfully conceived to expand a classic mid-century house into a modern family home while preserving its original character.
Working with about 50% of the original slab and exterior walls, our team, in partnership with Studio AD Architect, designed an addition that seamlessly blends with the home’s mid-century origins. The exterior honors the era with classic horizontal siding and warm brick accents, creating a cohesive and authentic street presence.
Inside, the heart of the 2,600-square-foot home is a new double-height great room. Clerestory windows flood the space with light, illuminating the stunning tongue-and-groove Cypress ceilings above. A central see-through fireplace with an exposed flue provides a striking architectural feature that anchors the room while maintaining an open, connected feel. The most unique expression of the home’s heritage is found in the new outdoor cooking cabana; here, historic pecky Cypress, carefully salvaged from the original house, was repurposed to create a feature rich with texture and a tangible link between the home’s past and present. The result is a masterful fusion of old and new—a home that respects its mid-century roots while offering the space, light, and functionality of a modern build.
